David Lucas is a Patent Attorney with the firm Peterreins Schley. Prior to joining the firm, he entered the profession via large UK firm of patent attorneys in 2010, and then joined a large German patent firm based in Munich in 2013. His career prior to the IP profession involved a period as a research associate in wireless telecommunications at Bristol University, and industrial engineering work experience in the defence, semiconductor equipment, and food manufacturing sectors.

His practice emphasizes patent drafting and prosecution before the European and UK Patent Offices, with experience of EPO opposition and appeal practice, and registered designs. In particular, he has previous experience of drafting and prosecuting a significant number of cases across several portfolios in the field of medical electronics, involving direct interaction with in-house counsel and engineers in a large multinational company.

David Lucas was admitted as a European Patent Attorney in 2015, and as a UK patent attorney in 2018. In addition, he is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys, a member of the European Patent Institute, and a member of the Patentanwaltskammer.
